Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Commencement. Because so many wonderful community members have volunteered, recruitment is now over and this form is closed. Please tune in next spring when we will ask for your help at Commencement 2013!
Commencement Day is Friday, June 8, 2012.
Guest services volunteers are vital to the success of Commencement at MIT. We give directions, answer questions, make conversation with guests, and help them solve problems. We are fortunate every year to find friendly and resourceful MIT people to help up make this day a great one for all.
Volunteers work under the guidance of an experienced section leader and are prepared for anything thanks to the (mandatory) training session earlier in the week. Guests start arriving several hours before the ceremony, so the volunteer time commitment on Commencement Day is 6:30 am to 2:30 pm; breakfast and lunch are provided.
Undergraduates who complete the volunteer commitment are permitted to extend their campus housing until Saturday, June 9: please note that you must register to volunteer by 5 pm on Friday, May 18 to qualify. Please note that this form offers a confirmation message after submission, but it does not send an email to you.
For more information, please contact John McDonald, Director for Guest Services.
Thank you!
